Surging new Heights

“I practice 5 hours a day everyday. I miss school sometimes,but never my tennis. I leave school early daily so I can rush to the academy to perfect my game, increase my stamina andwork on strengthening my core and physique because I believe the struggle you are in today, is developing the strength you need tomorrow. I believe there is no way around hard work and I have committed myself to embrace it. I love tennis more than anything else as I believe it has helped me build who I am today and what I hope to be tomorrow. My dream is to win the Junior Wimbledon for India &I want to kick start this by becoming India’s No.1 in Under 12 category in a couple of years time.” –  Ruhan Komandur.

Ruhan Komandur, the 9 year old, tennis prodigy from Bishop Cotton Boys school, Bengaluru, has won many state level tennis tournaments in the Under 10 & 12 and also played in the National ranking tournaments conducted by The All India Tennis Association. With a long way ahead, he hopes to win such events. Ruhan started his tennis at an early age of 7, purely driven by passion and love for the sport. He is a big fan of Rafael Nadal.

Currently he spends more than 30hours a week on his training and fitness for tennis at the HLTA academy. Jaidev Punjabi, head Tennis coach of Ruhan said – ” I have not seen a sincere and disciplined student in my coaching career. He is a natural player and extremely talented. I am lucky to have such a dedicated boy as my student.”

Ryan Reidy a USPTA, United States Professional Tennis Associationcoach and player on seeing his video said “Ruhan is such a naturally gifted and talented player. Also he is so hardworking and when you put talent and hard work together, there is no limit to what you can achieve.” He also mentioned that he loves watching Ruhan’s Instagram account @ruhankomandur. As on date, Ruhan has more than 3000 followers on Instagram and growing.

With AITA and State level tournaments happening regularly, Ruhan is bound to add more trophies to his name. Other than tennis, Ruhan is a Taekwondo blue belt and is also taking training in Swimming and Basketball. A member of Karnataka state Lawn Tennis Association (KSLTA), he is keen to make Karnataka and India proud
